ShopMainStreet.org is an online portal of e-Commerce-enabled Main Street businesses. It works by letting you - the local Main Street program or revitalization effort - invite the businesses in your commercial district to join the site and list themselves.

Eligibility Requirements:

For you - In order to participate in ShopMainStreet.org, you must be:

  1. A local revitalization organization, city agency, or other entity working to revitalize a traditional Main Street or neighborhood commercial district.
  2. A member of the National Main Street Network. Learn more

For your businesses - In addition, the businesses you invite or list must:

  1. Be located in a Main Street, neighborhood traditional commercial district – businesses located in malls, strip malls, new commercial developments, and other non-traditional commercial areas will not be accepted.
  2. Be independently owned or a locally-owned chain or fanchise - National chains and franchises are not eligible for the site.
  3. Have some e-commerce capability – this is defined as either a full online store or an online catalog with pricing and phone ordering capability.
  4. Have the ability to ship or otherwise deliver their products to anywhere in the US – service businesses or other businesses that require the customer to physically visit the store to take advantage of their goods are no eligible for the site.

Getting started:

  1. Join the National Main Street Network and register as a website user;
  2. Login to ShopMainStreet.org;
  3. Follow the instructions there to invite or add businesses in your commercial district.
  4. Add information and photos about your community - this helps us tell the story about downtown any why it's so important!

That's it! Once you invite your businesses, they will be able to login to the site, edit their listing, and submit it for approval.

 

Important Reminders

  • You may only list businesses in your commercial district - to help manage this, your businesses will be listed with your state, city, and (where appropriate) specific commercial district.
  • Businesses will only be visible as long as your membership is active
